Privacy Policy

In the event of discrepancies between language versions of this document, the English version shall prevail.

1. Data Controller

The data controller of personal data under GDPR is Maksym Chukhrai (an individual, Ukraine), the owner and operator of IT JobHunter. Data protection contact: support@it-jobhunter.com

2. Data We Collect

Data you provide yourself:

  • Name and email (via Google/GitHub OAuth during registration)
  • Resume text, skills, work experience, LinkedIn/GitHub links
  • Job search criteria (desired salary, location, work format)
  • Telegram account (optional, for notifications)
  • Application data you enter into the tracker (status, notes, recruiter contacts)

Data collected automatically:

  • IP address, browser type, device type
  • Service usage data (job listing views, interface actions) — used to improve the algorithm and for statistics

Payment data:

  • We do NOT store your bank card numbers. Payment data is processed directly by Paddle and NOWPayments. We only store the transaction/subscription identifier required to grant access to the Service.

3. How We Use Data

  • To provide core functionality: job matching, cover letter generation, application tracking
  • For communication: notifications about new listings, application status, technical support
  • To improve the quality of matching algorithms (aggregated, without identifying a specific user to third parties)
  • To comply with legal obligations (for example, tax reporting on payments)

Automated decision-making: the job-matching algorithm (AI scoring) ranks listings for you personally based on your resume. This is not an automated decision with legal or similarly significant effects on you within the meaning of GDPR — the decision to apply for a job listing is always made by you personally. The algorithm does not make decisions on behalf of employers and does not share scoring results with third parties.

4. Sharing Data with Third Parties

We share part of your data with the following categories of third parties — strictly to the extent necessary for the Service to function:

  • Payment providers (Paddle, NOWPayments) — for payment processing
  • AI providers (Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, Groq) — for generating cover letters and scoring job listings. Fragments of your resume and the job listing text are sent to these providers to process the request; under commercial API terms, providers do not use this data to train their models
  • Hosting providers (Vercel, Railway) — for hosting and operating the Service
  • Telegram — if you have connected Telegram notifications, messages are sent via the Telegram Bot API

We do not sell your personal data to third parties and do not share it with advertisers.

Since some providers (AI services, hosting) are located outside the EU/Ukraine, data may be transferred internationally. Such transfers are carried out in accordance with providers' Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Data is retained for as long as your account remains active. If a subscription is inactive (the account is not used) for 6 months, profile data (resume, search criteria, application history) is subject to complete deletion, including from relational database tables.

You may delete your account and all associated data yourself at any time via /settings — deletion happens without delay upon your request.

6. Cookies

A detailed description of cookie usage is provided in a separate Cookie Policy (/cookie-policy).

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If GDPR (EU residents) or similar regulation applies to you, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure ("right to be forgotten") — request deletion of your data
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured format
  • Objection — object to certain types of processing
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal
  • Lodge a complaint — with your national data protection authority

To exercise any of these rights, contact support@it-jobhunter.com. We respond to requests within 30 days.

We do not sell or "share" personal data within the meaning defined by US privacy laws (CCPA and similar state laws) — regardless of whether this regulation formally applies to us.

8. Policy Changes and Contacts

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notification within the Service.
